The World Cup Trophy Tour

Well Bhubaneswar deserves to be World Heritage City but have we shown the world who we are, perhaps not. Because when we have opportunity around us we simply forgotten it. Yes am talking about World Cup Hockey Tour in Bhubaneswar. The World Cup visited Patha Uschav, a Mall, two higher educational institutions and Lingaraj Temple.

The cup with Llingaraj Temple will add value to our identity, certainly not the other three where it went. While three most important stops that the Trophy missed were Khandagiri Udayagiri, Dhauli, Sisupalgarh, Gangabati River and Main facade of Secretariat Building that were constructed based Temple & Cave and Portuguese Fort representing the capital that will mark 75 years in 2023. Bhubaneswar is a rare species that world is looking for but we still couldn’t present it. That’s why people visiting often ask how far is Bhubaneswar from Odisha.

Why I believe we missed an opportunity is because every major sports event is often gave free opportunity to build brand of host city as well as market your city. That’s why Torch rally of Olympics visits city’s heritage not malls. Even though in past there is not much evidence of Cup tour but nothing to wrong to have it.

The World Cup is an Opportunity to Market Bhubaneswar City Brand, that we certainly missed, even though we are hosting consecutively for the second time in less than twenty days time. The cup will now return for it’s final journey with thenwinner of the World Cup, when Bhubaneswar will host Final.
